"Plein Air to Studio" with Katherine Galbraith; four classes at two hours each which will show you how to take your Plein Air study to a finished painting. This class will teach the student how to make a plein air color sketch, then bring it into the studio to complete a ?nished painting. We will use pastel, paint, and photography on site to document the subject matter, and then use these tools to create a ?nished piece. The students will learn about effective composition, color theory, and the importance of contrast in design. Drawing skills required. Students may use oil paints or pastels. A materials list will be available 2-3 months prior to class so that each student will be able to acquire the necessary tools and paints/pastels. Suggested reading materials will also be listed at that time. Instruction will be one-on-one, with gentle critiques at the end of each class. Please RSVP by calling Patterson Library @ 716-326-2154.
