CHAUTAUQUA - On September 9, 2013 at around 8.34 p.m. Deputies responded to a vehicle and amish buggy accident on Harfield/ Stockton Rd. Upon further investigation it was found that Merritt was the operator of the vehicle that had been involved in the accident. Investigation into the accdient showed Merritt allegedly to be under the influence of alochol. Merritt was charged for Driving While Intoxicated and DWI per se having a BAC of .08 or higher. Merritt will apear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later time and date. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.

CHAUTAUQUA - On September 5, 2013 while visiting Inmate Kevin Schrecengost at the Chautauqua County Jail, civilian visitor Laurie A. Schrecengost is alleged to have passed contraband to the Inmate consisting of 2 Morphine Sulfate pills; 2 Xanax pills; & 2 Oxycodone pills. Both individuals were arrested for the charges. Inmate Kevin Schrecengost received additional charges for the alleged crime and Laurie A. Schrecengost was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court and committed to the County Jail on $5,000 bail.

PANAMA - On Sept. 12 at approximately 7:00 a.m. the suspect, Vincent J Mardino did crawl through an open window of residence located on Weeks Road in Panama NY. Once inside, Mardino did proceed to assault two occupants of the residence that were a sleep in bed. This was a domestic type incident as Mardino is an acquaintance of the female victim. Both victims suffered non life threatening injuries, both refused treatment at the scene, however, later that day the male victim did seek medical treatment. Mardino did turn himself in the following day, he was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court for the Town of Harmony Court. Mardino was committed to the Chautauqua County Court in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 property.

RIPLEY - On Sept. 15, time and location deputies stopped Otero for speeding. Otero was found to have suspended NYS privileges for unanswered tickets in the NYC area. During the investigation, Otero and Curry were found to have open containers of alcohol, a burning marihuana cigarette, and a small quantity of marihuana in the vehicle. There was a 13 yr old female passenger in the vehicle. Otero was arrested for speeding, AUO3rd, open container of alcohol in a vehicle, unlawful possession marihuana, and endangering welfare of a child. Curry was charged with open container of alcohol in a vehicle and Endangering the welfare of a child. Both subjects were arraigned at the Town of Ripley court. Curry was ROR and released to a family friend along with the 13 year old passenger. Otero was committed to CCJ in lieu of $1000.00 bail.

RIPLEY - On Sept. 15 at about 3:35 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies observed a vehicle operating with a discernibly loud and leaking exhaust system. Upon contacting the vehicle, the operator identified himself as Frank M. Joos, 59, of Ripley. Interview and subsequent investigation revealed a quantity of marjuana and multiple smoking pipes inside the vehicle. It was also discovered that Joos did not have a valid driver's license. Joos was cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, unlicensed operator, and inadequate muffler. He will appear in Town of Ripley court at a later date.

MAYVILLE - On September 12, 2013 at around 5:26 p.m. deputies responded to the Chautauqua County Jail to an assualt/harassment incident. Deputies were advised that while a 17 year old female prisoner was in the booking room becoming uncooperative and distruptive. The prisoner was advised by correctional officers to return back to her holding cell. At this time she became loud and disorderly. While the prisoner was being restrained by correctional officers the 17 year old prisoner was able to bite a correctional officer on the shoulder.The 17 year old prisoner was charged with Harassment in the 2nd degree. The prisoner was a arrigned at Mayville Court. Bail was set at $250.00cash and $500.00 property.
