Westfield - Six teams joined the weekly competition at the Pinehurst Golf Club. There were four foursomes and two threesomes.
Coming in to take first place at five under par were Jim Quinn, Dick Furman, Gene Noble and Les Yokom with a sterling round. The threesome of Bill Ottaway, Doug Rothwell and Ray Cenni finished second with three under which included a tie breaking birdie on the fifth hole.
Out of the money was the team of Bill Cole, Dennis Shively, Rick Lawson and Todd Swanson, also at three under.
Fourth place went to Steve Woleben, Sam Arcadipane and Mel Allen with a score of two under par. Another team at two under was that of Trenny Jordan, John Jones, Dave Holser and Vinny Paternosh who came in fifth. Last spot, at even par, were Bob Lokietek, Jim Higginbotham, Bob Rogers and Bill Christ.
Solo awards were as folllows: Closest to the 150 yard fairway marker on No. 3 was Lokietek. Nearest the pin on No. 4 was Quinn and nearest the pin on No. 7 was Furman
The annual picnic luncheon will be held on Sept. 19 right after golf.
Twenty-one golfers gathered at the Pinehurst Golf Club this Thursday. From this group six teams were formed - three foursomes and three threesomes.
The team of Bill Christ, Ray Lewis and Sam Arcadipane shot a round of 4 under par to capture first place. The foursome of Bob Lokietek, Butch Joint, Doug Rothwell and Dennis Shively took second with 3 under. Also scoring 3 under but losing on a tie breaker to finish out of the money in third place were Jim Quinn, Bob Rogers, Todd Swanson and Vinny Paternosh.
Fourth, at 2 under, was the trio of Dick Furman, John Jones and Les Yokom. The squad of Bill Ottaway, Steve Woleben, Jeff Greabell and Rick Lawson came in fifth with another 2 under.
A round of 1 under found the quartet of Harry Barton, Marty Gollnitz, Gene Noble and Dave Holser in sixth. Nearest the hole on the par threes: Shively on No. 4; Rothwell on No. 7 and Yokom on the second shot into No. 8.
The season finale is set for Sept. 19 with a steak fry following the golf.
