WESTFIELD - On a warm, sunny Thursday, May 30, 21 senior athletes formed six squads to compete for a forgettable amount at the Pinehurst Golf Club.
The foursome of Ray Lewis, Gene Noble, Lou Barresi and Harry Barton scored a blistering three under par 33 to win first place. They took advantage of sharpshooter Noble to make two of their four birdies on the two par 3 holes.
Two strokes behind were Jim Quinn, Mel Allen and Les Yokom with a 35 to claim what little money was left. In third place with a 35 were Bill Cole, John Jones and Todd Swanson. In fourth place with a 36 were Bill Christ, Marty Gollnitz, Doug Rothwell and Rick Lawson. In fifth place with a 36 were Vin Paternosh, Sam Arcadipane, Butch Joint and Bob Lokietek. In sixth place with a 36 were Trenny Jordan, Ray Cenni and Dave Holser.
Noble captured both closes to the pin changes on no. 4 and no. 7 while Holser won the award on no. 8 for closest to the pin on the second shot.
