Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Ripley library yard sale

The Ripley Free Library will hold its annual yard sale on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8. The sale will begin at 9 a.m. on both days at the library, 64 W. Main St., Ripley. Proceeds go to the summer reading. Stop by and support the library.

Chicken barbecue in Sherman

The Sherman Community Church, 107 Church St., Sherman will hold an old fashion chicken barbecue on Saturday, June 8, rain or shine, from 3:30 p.m. until food is gone. The cost is $8 for adults for half a chicken and $6 for children for a fourth of a chicken. The meal also includes macaroni salad, baked beans, rolls and homemade pies. Take-outs are available. Proceeds will help defray the costs of repairing the church steeple.

Westfield Wellness Walkers

Join the Westfield Family Physicians' Westfield Wellness Walkers for a themed walk around town. Weekly Tuesday evening walks with a theme will start at 6:30 p.m. from June 11 through Aug. 13 with rain date of Aug 20. Meet at WFP parking lot, 138 E. Main St. Walks will be 1.5 to 3 miles and are open to all ages and abilities. All participants will be entered into a weekly drawing. Each week will focus on a healthy theme with a take away tip.

The Absolut Care of Westfield's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the second Thursday of the month in the Absolut Care Activity Room from 4 to 5 p.m.

Hartfield Fire Company barbecues

The Hartfield Fire Company will be holding monthly barbecues this summer. The barbecues are being held on the third Sunday of the month, June 16, July 21 and Aug. 18, at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Hall, Hartfield, off Route 430 two miles east of Mayville from noon until food is sold out.

Strawberry social in Portland

The Portland Congressional Church will hold its annual strawberry social on Wednesday, June 19 from 5 to 7 p.m., or until sold out. Dinner will include beef on weck, salad, beans and strawberry shortcake or strawberries and ice cream. Take-outs are available. Handicap accessible.
