MAYVILLE - James H. Jackson, 70, of 4471 West Lake Road, died Thursday (April 11, 2013) in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa.
He was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Leslie E. and Vernice Hargett Jackson.
Jim was the owner and manager of The Chautauqua Diner at Chautauqua where he was noted for cooking his one eyed Jack pancakes. He and his two partners were the first owners of the former Dog N Sud's in Mayville.

He was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Peacock Masonic Lodge in Mayville, and a former member of Kirtland Fire Department in Ohio and the Chautauqua Fire Department.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He loved his dogs and always had one by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Krause Jackson, whom he married Jan. 8, 1977, at Hurlbut Memorial Community Church in Chautauqua; one son, Jason (Stacey) Jackson of Bridgewater, N.J.; one daughter, Elizabeth (Charles) Graham of Norfolk, Va.; three grandchildren, Andrew, Kimberly and Shay Jackson; and two brothers, Howard Jackson of Kirtland, Ohio and Larry Jackson of Mentor, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father on April 8, 1990; his mother on June 17, 1990; and a brother, David Jackson in 1979.
A memorial service will be held this summer and will be announced by the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua Fire Department Rescue Squad, Box F, Chautauqua, N.Y. 14722.
