Leo E. Griffin, 69, of Jamestown, died at 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
He was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Westfield, N.Y., a son of the late Marion and Viola Strand Griffin and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
A graduate of SUNY Brockport, he had worked as an investigator for the Department of Social Services both locally and in New Jersey.

Leo was a member of the VFW and as an EMT had previously volunteered at WCA Hospital. A marathon runner in earlier years, he had competed in many marathons including the New York City Marathon.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Griffin; a daughter, Desiree E. (Nathaniel) Johnson of York, Pa.; a son, David J. Griffin of Woodbridge, Va.; three grandchildren, Aiden, Reese and Payton; a brother, Marion "Skip" (Peggy) Griffin of Frewsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Donald Griffin; and a sister, Janet Allison.
A graveside service with military honors was held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 12 in Soldier's Circle of Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Juan C. Perez, pastor of Iglesia Ahican Assembly of God, officiated. Visitation will not be observed.
