WESTFIELD - On a monthly basis, Westfield Academy and Central School's middle school honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month.
Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria: follows Westfield's Rules of Respect for staff and peers; shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects; prepared daily to participate in all classes; serves as a positive role model for peers; and demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship.
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of December.
The sixth grade recipient is Jessica Lopez. In school, Jessica enjoys her social studies class, especially learning about the different cultures of the world. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to Latino music and also baking. In the future, Jessica hopes to become a teacher and to serve as a volunteer at an animal shelter.
Madyson Abbey received this honor for the seventh grade. In school, she enjoys her science class because of all the labs and hands-on activities. As a hobby, she enjoys snowboarding with her friends. One goal she has for the future is to continue to do well in school and go to college.
At the eighth grade level Cassia Connolly received this honor. In school, she enjoys her math, science and Spanish classes. Outside of the classroom, Cassia enjoys reading books and singing. In the future, she hopes to do well in school and become an ecologist.
