RIPLEY - Wanda Bentley, 67, of Loomis St. Ext., Ripley was charged with petit larceny Sec 155.25 NYSPL on Thursday, Feb. 7.
According to the sheriff's office, Bentley was arrested following an investigation into allegations she stole two signs posted in the yard of a residence on Ross St., in Ripley. Signs were in support of a "no" vote for the Ripley Central School's tuitioning vote. Bentley was arrested around 8 a.m., and issued appearance tickets to appear in Ripley Town Court on a later date.
PORTLAND - Zachary Cave, 25, of Webster Rd., Fredonia was charged with unlawful possession of marihuana on Thursday, Feb. 7.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies were allegedly speaking with Cave regarding an unrelated incident when deputies allegedly noticed an odor of marihuana coming from Cave's car around 5:45 p.m. After a brief investigation, Cave was found to allegedly be in possession of a small amount of marihuana and was issued an appearance ticket. Cave will answer the charge in Portland Town Court.
PORTLAND - The sheriff's office is investigating several incidents in the Town of Pomfret and Town of Portland of an individual posing as dog warden, approaching homeowners and attempting to confiscate or impound their dogs.
At this time, information is of a white male subject in his early to mid 30's. The subject operates a small, brown colored sedan and identifies himself as the dog warden for the Town of Pomfret.
