On Jan. 1 at approximately 8 a.m., Westfield Police Department was called to the scene of a one-vehicle accident. A vehicle allegedly driven by Austin J. Elmers, 19, of South Gale Street, Ripley was traveling northbound on South Gale Street when the vehicle began to slide on some ice. The vehicle crossed the southbound lane of traffic, striking a snow/dirt embankment and a guardrail. The vehicle then bounced off the rail, crossed both lanes of traffic and struck a guard rail on the opposite side of the road and came to rest on a hill. Eimers was issued a traffic ticket for failure to keep right and released. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control.

On Jan. 1 at 4:36 p.m., a Westfield patrol unit observed a vehicle on East Main Street with an expired inspection sticker. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was being operated by Marcus Beckwith-Kaiser, 22, of Fredonia. He was found to be operating a suspended motor vehicle, operating with no insurance, and with suspended driving privileges. He was issued citations for aggravated unlicensed operation, suspended registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and expired inspection. He will appear in village of Westfield court at a later date.

On Jan. 1 at 8:58 p.m., a Westfield patrol unit stopped Wendy Blakeslee, 32, of Washington Street, Westfield for direct knowledge that Blakeslee was driving with suspended privileges. Blakeslee was issued a citation for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. She will appear in village court at a later date.

On Jan. 5 at 4:20 p.m., Westfield police stopped a vehicle operated by Harley Hawkins, 36, of 65 Cass St., Apt. 4, Westfield,for an alleged traffic infraction. During the stop, it was found that Hawkins did not have driving privileges in New York state and the vehicle was found to have suspended registration, no insurance and an expired inspection. He was issued traffic tickets for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator and related charges. He will appear in village court at a later date.

On Jan 5 at 7:54 p.m., a Westfield patrol unit was on patrol on West Main Street and observed a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was found to be operated by Hector Colom, 38, of Dunkirk and his license was allegedly found to be suspended in New York. He was issued traffic citations for speed in zone and aggravated unlicensed operator. He will appear in village court at a later date.

On Jan. 5 at 10:09 p.m., a Westfield patrol unit observed an eastbound vehicle at a high rate of speed on West Main Street. Upon further investigation, Richard Perkins Jr., 46, of Wattsburg, Pa., was found to be operating the vehicle and allegedly intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and speed in zone. He will appear in village court at a later date.
