ERIE, Pa. - The Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Invitational will return to the Bayfront Convention Center on Friday, Jan. 11 through Sunday, Jan. 13 2013.
This year marks the 11th edition of the event, and it is one of the largest gymnastics meets in the U.S.A., attracting 900 gymnasts and more than 2,500 spectators. The estimated economic impact to the Erie area is approximately $500,000.
Over 30 gymnastic teams will bring their best to the Bayfront for this USA Gymnastics-sanctioned qualifying competition featuring national level gymnasts competing in the main event, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at 7 p.m. This session will feature Level 9 and 10 gymnasts, the highest levels of competition recognized by U.S.A. Gymnastics. Of these athletes, some will most likely advance to the National Championships and possibly move on to Team U.S.A. International Teams.
The event is hosted by Erie Gymnastics Center and the Team Lightning Boosters. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit the Erie VA Hospital.
