Friday, Sept. 28

Quilting show

Quilting around Chautauqua will be held Friday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 30 at Chautauqua Institution. The show is in its ninth year. There are more than 800 quilts on display and 60 plus vendors for the three-day show. Friday is the pre-class day and set-up day for vendors and quilt displays.

Classes will be offered by Marianne Fons and her daughter, Mary, from Fons and Porter, Love of Quilting TV show, Sue Hausmann from America Quilts Creatively and Mattie Rhoades, president and founder of the Quiltsmart Company.

Chicken and biscuit dinner

Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church invites people to a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The donation is $7 and includes dessert and beverage. The church is located in the heart of Dewittville at Route 430 and Meadows Rd.

Autumn market

The Westfield Stray Cat Rescue will hold an autumn market at 170 N. Portage St., Westfield on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come and meet the cats. Cats 1 year and older can be adopted for no fee. There will also be several vendors with antiques, collectibles and unique items. 50 items will be raffled off. Bring a donation of Purina cat or kitten chow or scoopable litter and get two free raffle tickets. Vendor space available at no charge, though donations to WSCR are suggested. Dollhouse miniatures show and sale

The Western New York Miniature Enthusiasts will hold its 32nd annual show and sale of dollhouse miniatures on Sunday Sept. 20 at Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road in Depew, N.Y. Admission is $4.50 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12. Stroller are allowed, and there will a be door prize. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Western New York. Parkinson's support group at WMH

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Friday, Oct. 5

Reflections of the King

The Moose Lodge No. 118, 19 Clinton St., Westfield will host Reflections of the King, a world-class tribute to Elvis competition, on Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday Oct. 6. Presale tickets are $18 per person per night, or $34 per person for both nights. Tickets must be paid for by money order or cash. Tickets at the door will cost $20 per person per night. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a showcase and contest beginning at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday with "A Blast from the Past" at 5 p.m. and the contest at 6 p.m. Food and drink will be available.

Presbyterian Church fundraiser dinners

The First Presbyterian Church, 49 S. Portage St., Westfield, will be holding fundraiser dinners on Fridays this fall from 5 to 6:30 p.m., to benefit building restoration and mission outreach. The cost for dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. All dinners include a beverage and homemade dessert. Sit down, takeout and delivery are available. For delivery, call 326-2643 by noon on the day of the dinner.

On Oct. 5, dinner will be chicken and biscuits with mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, cranberry salad and fruit pies. On Oct. 12, dinner will be roast pork with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, seasoned green beans, baked apples, homemade rolls and fruit pie. On Oct. 19, dinner will be meatloaf with potato stuffing, vegetable medley, molded salad, homemade rolls and desert buffet. On Oct. 26, dinner will be cheesy potatoes, peas, applesauce, sunset salad, corn muffins and cake buffet. On Nov. 2, dinner will be chicken with stuffing, corn, squash, Harvard beets, cranberry-orange relish and choice of pie. For more information, call 326-2643.

Westfield Senior Citizens

The Westfield Senior Citizens meet on the second Thursday of the month at the YWCA Westfield at noon.

Parkinson's support group at Absolut Care

The Absolut Care of Westfield's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the second Thursday of the month in the Absolut Care Activity Room from 4 to 5 p.m.
