MASON, Ohio (AP) — Roger Federer beat Andy Murray 6-3, 7-5 on Friday night and advanced to the semifinals of the Western & Southern Open.

The Swiss star has won the Masters event an unprecedented five times already. He'll face Canada's Milos Raonic.

Federer and Murray have won 11 matches apiece in their career series, with Federer also winning in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open this year.

Serena Williams also reached the semifinals in a tournament she has never won, needing only 58 minutes to beat Jelena Jankovic on Friday. She'll face Caroline Wozniacki, who reached the semifinals for the first time by beating Agnieszka Radwanska.

In the men's bracket, Julien Benneteau and David Ferrer also advanced.
