Drug probe after bus driver's Times Square crash

August 6, 2014
Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities are investigating whether the driver of a sightseeing bus had taken illegal or prescription drugs before his bus plowed into a crowded plaza in Times Square, injuring several people.

Irvington, New Jersey, resident William Dalambert was to be arraigned on Wednesday on charges of driving while impaired. He's in custody and can't be reached for comment.

Police say there's no evidence Dalambert had been drinking but he was arrested after he failed a sobriety test.

The results of urine and blood tests are pending.

Fourteen people were injured on Tuesday when the bus drove into an area near the TKTS discount Broadway ticket booth. The injuries aren't life-threatening.
