Golf: Sherman/Clymer/Panama wins two matches

CASSADAGA (April 29) - Anthony Miller of Cassadaga Valley was the medalist with a 1-over-par 21 over five holes during rain-shortened Division 2 West high school golf action at Cassadaga Country Club.

Miller led the Cougars to a 32-23 defeat of Frewsburg, but Sherman/Clymer/Panama (5-6, 4-5) beat Cassadaga Valley (2-9, 2-7), 32-23, behind a 25 from Cole Munson.

Nick Mole' led Frewsburg (4-5, 3-5) with a 25, but the Bears lost a non-league match to Sherman/Clymer/Panama, 34-20.

Cassadaga Valley: Anthony Miller 21, Titus Miller 30, Nelson Barker 30, Katrina Bretl 31, Garrett Catanese 36.

Sherman/Clymer/Panama: Cole Munson 25, Albert Bensink 29, Trent Meeder 29, Caleb Burick 27, Chance Meeder 33.

Frewsburg: Nick Mole' 25, Dylan Greene 32, Nyle Bird 34, Evan Norton 34, Billy Piazza 35.

S/C/P goes 1-2 in Forestville event

FORESTVILLE (April 27) - For the second time in as many days, Forestville's Lewis Markham earned medalist honors in leading the Hornets to three victories in CCAA Division 2 boys high school golf.

Markham, and Silver Creek's Connor Daniels tied for medalist with a 40 at Tri-County Country Club.

Forestville defeated Sherman, 36 1/2-18 1/2, Frewsburg, 37-18, and Silver Creek , 32-23. Frewsburg edged Sherman, 30-25, and Silver Creek, 28 1/2-26 1/2. Meanwhile, Sherman stopped Silver Creek 29 1/2-25 1/2.

"I figured we would need four scores in the 40s to win," Forestville coach Jack Dugan said. "That was our goal. I said if we did that, we would be in good shape."

The Hornets did just that as Phil Narraway added a 44, Tyler Spears had a 46 and Troy Torsell had a 47. Forestville's fifth golfer, Jackson Egan, finished with a 50.

Silver Creek's Zach Rybak had a 44 and Chris Pagano had 58.

Nick Mole led Frewsburg with a 45 and Dylan Greene had a 51. Hayden Edwards recorded a 55 and Antony Mole had a 56.

The Wildcats' top golfer was Cole Munson with a 44. Albert Bensink and Trent Meeder each charted a 56 with Caleb Burick finishing with a 57.
