The YWCA of Westfield is pleased to announce that its annual Arts and Crafts Festival is set for July 29 and 30 this year.

This long running event is held in historic Moore Park, in the heart of Westfield. The show opens each day at 9 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.

New artists join the show each year, bringing their unique clothing designs, fabric art, mixed media and pottery while there are a number of craftspeople and artists that have over a 25 year history with the show. Artists interested in showcasing their talent and being part of the show are encouraged to contact the YWCA at 716-326-2011 and request an application.

Under the direction of Brenda Backus and Julie Devlin, students from the YWCA Child Care Program and the YWCA Girls Program have a tent dedicated to selling water and Welch's juice. Proceeds from these sales directly benefit the child services programs at the YWCA.

YWCA Westfield Executive Director Katie Smith said, "This has become a favorite stop for residents and visitors alike. We have so many talented artists joining us, it's hard to decide where to look first. The show goes on rain or shine and we offer free parking and free shuttle rides to the park."

The artists are available each day at 9 a.m. and remain on site until 6 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. Customers using service animals are requested to have the animals properly outfitted for that role and festival organizers reserve the right to ask for documentation.

Volunteer recruitment will begin soon but anyone interested in being part of this event and helping out is invited to contact the YWCA now and share their contact information.

This is the largest fundraiser held by the YWCA Westfield. Proceeds from the festival are used to continue the mission of the YWCA: to empower women and eliminate racism. In addition to serving as a community center and meeting place the YWCA provides child care, pre school programs, UPK instruction and before and after school services to a wide range of families. Information is available on the YWCA website at, by liking the agency on Facebook, calling them at 716-326-2011 or visiting the administrative offices at 58 S. Portage St., Westfield.

The YWCA is a partner agency with the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, a member of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and an affiliate of the YWCA USA.
