Golf tournament to raise funds for Pinehurst following major flood

A concerned group of golfers has organized to run a benefit golf tournament to be held at Pinehurst Golf Club East Main Road, Westfield. The event is scheduled for Sept. 19. The tournament is limited to the first 72 golfers and is a four person scramble format. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place teams as well as many others for on course contests. Lunch at the turn and an awards dinner following the golfing with prizes awarded will be provided.

The proceeds from this tournament will be given to Pinehurst to help offset the cost of repairs to the course after the major damage caused by the recent record rainfall and flooding.

Registration forms are available at the golf course or by calling 326-4424.

Consideration is given for persons over 65 years of age for tee locations.

The public is asked to help the Swanson family keep what has become one of the best maintained courses in the are at the level that golfers have all come to enjoy.
