Merton “Butch” Querreveld

Merton "Butch" Querreveld, 85, of 324 Mohawk St. Clymer, New York, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at his home.

He was born April 16, 1929, in Clymer, New York the son of the late Garret and Nellie Gulick Querreveld.

Butch was a lifelong resident of Clymer. He was a member of the Clymer United Methodist Church, a member of the Clymer Fire Department for 60 years, and had served as Fire Chief for 36 years. He owned and operated Q & T Gravel Co. for over 30 years. He enjoyed his daily visits to the Dutch Village Restaurant. Butch always enjoyed helping others.

He is survived by his wife Coralee Querreveld, of Clymer, whom he married October 18, 1947. His daughter Kathy (Rick) Boyd, of Knoxville, TN. 2 sons, Ron (Brenda) Querreveld, of Clymer, NY, and Randall (Becky) Querreveld of Sarasota, FL. 4 grandchildren, JoAnn (Josh) Kopta, Jamie Querreveld, Ryan Querreveld, and Rachael Querreveld. And 5 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Doris Smith, in 1990, and a brother Guyle Querreveld.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Clymer Fire Department, PO Box 31, Clymer, NY or the Clymer United Methodist Church Building Fund PO Box 264, Clymer, NY 14724.

Arrangements are being handled by the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, New York.
