Katherine (Tramuta) Criscione, 97, of Fredonia, NY, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at Brooks Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Fredonia, NY, to the late Michael and Lucy Tramuta.
A lifelong resident of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, she married the late Peter Criscione, who died Nov. 5, 1996.
During her lifetime, Katherine had been an employee of the Fredonia Seed Company; seamstress at Van Raalte; supervisor at M. Wile; and member of the Fredonia Central School cafeteria staff.
She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and also belonged to CIAO, Fredonia Senior Citizens and the Westfield Moose Auxiliary.
Katherine enjoyed bowling, cooking and was an avid fan of her sons' sporting events.
Survivors include her sons, Peter (Janet) Criscione of Dunkirk, NY, Michael (Jo-Ann) Criscione of West Seneca, NY, David (Marj) Criscione of Fredonia, NY, and Richard Criscione of Baltimore, MD.
She is further survived by seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Viszt and Rose Aquino; and a brother, Samuel Tramuta.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Angelo and Joseph Tramuta.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk, NY. Relatives and friends were invited to attend and called at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, NY on Sunday, Aug. 10 from 4-8 p.m.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to the RO Foundation in Katherine's memory would be appreciated by the family. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sheridan, NY.
