"Baby Geniuses" ages 0-36 months meet at 9:15 a.m. "Star Gazers" children ages 3 through entering Kindergarten meet at 10:15 a.m. "Backyard Naturalists" children entering Grades 1 & 2 meet at 11:30 a.m.

Westfield Wellness Walkers

Ten themed walks around Westfield plus one bonus walk on Aug. 21 of five miles for those who are up for the challenge. At the end of each walk there will be a drawing to win a TOPS gift card. Event will be held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. starting June 12 and ending Aug 21. Walkers will meet at the Westfield Family Physicians parking lot. Bring a Friend!!

Begins at 5 p.m. on Main Street in Westfield. Food, fun, art, entertainment for all. Sponsored by Westfield Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

Doggone Good Yard and Bake Sale

Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will hold the Second Annual Doggone Good Yard and Bake Sale August 1 & 2, 2014. The Sale will be held in the Learning Center at 7540 North Gale Street in Westfield. Doors will open at 9:00 AM. A HUGE sale with something for everyone!

This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. The dogs awaiting adoption will directly benefit from the money raised at this sale. NCCR is a non-profit corporation and receives no government funding. We are a NO Kill shelter rescuing 250 to 350 dogs and puppies each year.

Run/Walk at Chautauqua Institution

A 2.75 mile run/walk at the Chautauqua Institution beginning at 9 a.m. $25 donation includes T-shirt, age group awards (10 year brackets). Proceeds benefit Chautauqua Fund. Admission to Chautauqua Institution is free for the race. For info call 357-6281. Register online at oldfirstnight.com.

Motor Coach Excursion

The Lake Shore Railway Historical Society, located in North East, Pa., will offer a motor coach excursion to the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugar Creek, Ohio on Aug. 2. The trip will include a stop at the Warthers Carving Museum, a buffet lunch and a guided tour of the roundhouse where a number of steam locomotives are on display. Before returning to Erie, travelers will visit the Harry London Chocolate Factory for a guided tour. The trip leaves at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $104 per person. Another trip is planned for a Sept. 13 visit to the trolley museum in Washington, Pa. That trip leaves at 8 a.m., at a cost of $94 per person. For details, contact Sid at (814) 899-1892.

Cake Decorating Classes

Sharon Goupil, the "Cake Lady" will present a watermelon cake decorating class at Patterson Library on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 6 p.m. Adults and teens are invited to come and learn fun and beautiful cake decorating techniques. This particular class will feature using fondant, an interesting technique for beautiful decorating. Cake decorating sessions are free but registration is requested. Westfield Quilters' Guild Quilt Show

The Westfield Quilters' Guild will be holding their biannual quilt show on Friday, August 8 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Saturday, August 9 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Saturday, August 10 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), at the Westfield Academy and Central School, 203 E. Main Street (Route 20), in Westfield. There will be quilts and wall hangings on display, a raffle quilt, vendors selling fabrics and other quilt-related items, quilt appraisals, and many door prizes. The theme is "From Start to Finish: 20 Years of Learning," to celebrate the guild's 20th anniversary. Admission is $4.00, and is good for the entire weekend. Free parking. Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride

The 31st annual Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, originating and finishing in front of the Eason Hall, 23 Elm St. Westfield, NY. The mass start begins at 9 a.m. Water and refreshment stops and sag wagon services are provided. Helmets are required. Recreational tours of courses of 25, 40, 62, 75 and 100 miles. Red Cross Blood Drive

On Saturday, August 23, members of the Red Cross will be at Cross Roads Farm & Craft Market drawing blood to help save lives. "We are happy to help this worthy cause, and we hope lots of folks come donate," said Stephanie Larson-Green, the Gypsy's Trinkets vendor who is organizing the event. "The Red Cross does so much for others. You just never know when you'll need their services." The event runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. People are eligible to donate blood every 56 days. Donors should be in general good health and feeling well, must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Cross Roads Farm & Craft Market, located at 6017 Westfield-Sherman Road (County Route 21), Westfield NY, is open 9-5 on Saturdays from the first Saturday in May until the last Saturday before Christmas.
