Pinehurst Retiree Golf
The Thursday morning league scores are getting lower. The first place team of Les Yokum, Keith Rothwell, Jeff Graebell and Mel Allen were five under par. Second place went to the team of Bill Cole, Dick Furman and Vinny Paternosh at 33. Third (after a tie breaker ) went to Bard Schaack, Trenny Jordan, George Tanner and Rick Lawson -also with a 33. Fourth went to Ray Lewis, Jim Quinn, Bob Rogers and Dave Holser at even par. The score of 37 earned the team of Jim Sudal, Bill Christ and Butch Joint fifth. Sixth at plus three went to Bill Ottaway, Bob Lokietek, John Jones and Sam Arcadipane.Deadeye Dick Furman won closest to the pin on numbers four and seven.
Wednesday Morning Ladies League at Willow Run
Played from the men's tees. Low Gross Class A: Marsha Gastol 40. Low Net Class A: Margie Coran 31. Low Putts Class A: Doris Large 13. Low Gross Class B: Roxie Maytum 49. Low Net Class B: Kathy Yaw 28. Low Putts Class B: Fran McCarren 13. Birdies: Kathy Yaw No. 2.
Traveling Retiree Golf Open Season
On July 1, twenty retired golfers visited Peek-n-Peak and played the lower golf course. Five four man teams competed for prize money with the team of Ray Lewis, Phil Young, John Barone, and Dan Newcomb taking first place with a score of 202. The team of Todd Swanson, Gary Nash, Pete Miller and Dick Kurek finished in second place with a score of 215. Third place money went to the team of Jim Sudal, Dennis Burek, Leroy Bahl and Bill Ottaway with a score of 216.
Closest to the pin on hole number 8 was Kurek and Keith Rothwell was closest to the pin on hole number 11. Individual honors went to Burek for having a low gross score of 85, and Newcomb for having a low net score of 63. Three skins were handed out, with 2 going to Burek and 1 to Sudal.
