The Chautauqua Children's Safety Education Village is excited to announce the First annual Safety Village Dash-N-Bash 1K or 5K or Bike Tour fundraiser, on June 14, at the Safety Village (located at 2695 Rt. 394, next to Ashville BOCES). Participants will choose their event, either a beautiful 27 or 42 mile bike ride around Chautauqua Lake, which starts at 8:30am, a 5k walk/run down into Ashville and back to the Safety Village which starts at 9am or a 1k walk around the Safety Village itself, which starts at 11am. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome! Miles of Smiles providing timed services.

Looking to raise money for a not-for-profit organization, sports team, 4H, Boy/Girl Scouts or local family in need? Whatever your cause we are offering a contest where community groups/organizations have the opportunity to raise money for a local cause to help our community. Each group creates their own team name that participants register under in order to support this team. The group with the highest number of participants will win $1,000 for their cause. For those teammates who are unable to participate that day but want to help their team, they can make a donation under their team name. For every $50 in donations raised, one participant will be added to your total count.

The fun doesn't stop there! There will be a family fun bash running throughout the day with carnival games, food, cotton candy, a bounce house, train rides, face painting, and more! Kevin Luce from Eternal Nyghts will be the DJ. The Band Symba will be playing live from 12-1pm. An awards ceremony will take place after all events are complete. For more information, or to register on-line for the event and/or contest, go to: or contact Terri Kindberg, Executive Director, at 499-8138. On-line registration ended Monday June 9th. You may register in person on Friday, June 13th from 4-7pm at the Safety Village. Registration the day of the event, June 14, begins at 7:30am however, prices will increase by $5 per event. Be sure to register your team and also have your captain choose to fundraise on the registration form so that people can donate on behalf of your team.

The Children's Safety Village would like to publicly thank our main sponsors Cummins Engine, DFT Communications, the Westfield/Mayville Rotary, Jamestown Area Community Federal Credit Union, the Jamestown Chapter of Credit Unions, McDonald's, and the Resource Center. We would also like to thank the many businesses and individuals in our community who gave food, certificates and prizes for our event.

In addition, we would like to acknowledge the many volunteers who make events like this possible such as the local Fire Police, Ashville and Lakewood Fire Departments, WCA Services and the Safety Village Worker Bees who help with all our events. To volunteer, please contact Terri at 499-8138. This is a great way to receive community service hours as well.

The Chautauqua Children's Safety Education Village is located in Ashville, NY. It is a not-for-profit organization which was formed in 1996. The DFT Communications Educational Facility, where classes are held, is surrounded by a child-sized village, complete with a business district, paved roads, street signs, sidewalks and everything you would find in an actual Village. The purpose of the Safety Village is to educate children, primarily in the areas of Traffic, Bike and Fire Safety. Our goal is to decrease the number of unnecessary injuries and unfortunate fatalities of children in our community by allowing them to experience hands-on lessons that they will remember. The Safety Village is sustained through fundraising efforts.
