Pinehurst Retiree Golf

Thursday morning saw 25 retires (7 teams) compete. There were only four strokes between first and last place.

Another tie breaker for first resulted in the team of Jim Quinn, John Jones, George Tanner and Todd Swanson beating the second place team of Bob (blazing putter) Lokietek, Butch Joint and Sam Arcadipane - both teams shot a 33. Two teams scored a 32 with the tie breaker and third place going to Bill Cole, Herb Rice, Doug Rothwell and Keith Rothwell. Fourth place after the tie breaker were Mel Allen Gene Noble Cliff Hubbard and Pete ( my toes hurt) Miller. Fifth place team with a score of 1 under 34 was Vinny Paternosh, Dennis Shively, Bill Christ and Trenny Jordan. Sixth place - at even par were Bill Ottaway, Dave Holser and Bob Rogers and in seventh at 1 over par - 37 were Les Yokum, Jeff Greabell and Al Easton - welcome back Al.

Closest to the pin on No. 4 was Todd Swanson, No. 7 Jeff Greabell and closest to the line on No. 6 was Bill Cole.

Traveling Retiree Golf Open Season

On June 3, Westfield's traveling retirees opened their golf season at Green Meadows Golf course. Fourteen men formed four teams.

First place winners were Jeff Wagner, Les Yokum, Todd Swanson and Al Muck with a team score of 221. Two teams tied for second place with a score of 223. The team of Jim Sudahl, Doug Rothwell, Butch Joint and Gary Nash was one team and the other team was Nick Rizzo, Leroy Vahl, Mel Allen and Gary Farley.

Closest to the pin on hole number 3 was Vahl. Yokum was closest to the pin on hole number 16. The highlight reel of the day was Rothwell eagling hole number 9.

The next stop for the group will be Monday, June 16 at Chautauqua Golf course. Tee time will be at 9:30 a.m. New golfers are welcome to join the group. Call Roger Kolpien at 326-6253 for information.
