On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria:
1. Follows Westfield's Rules of Respect for staff and peers
2. Shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects
3. Prepared daily to participate in all classes
4. Serves as a positive role model for peers
5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of April.
The 6th grade recipient is Abigail Warner. In school Abigail enjoys her math and science classes, where they completed a rocket-building project. In her spare time she enjoys playing softball because it is fun and many of her friends participate as well. In the future Abigail plans to do well in school and college and get a degree in cosmetology.
Tyler Miles received this honor for the 7th grade. In school he enjoys his math class as the concepts are easy for him to learn. As a hobby Tyler enjoys playing football, something that his family has participated in for many generations. In the future he hopes to continue to do well in school and be successful.
At the 8th grade level Lillie Brown received this honor. In school she enjoys her social studies and science classes, as they are interesting and fun. Outside of the classroom Lillie enjoys dance, participating in ballet, tap, jazz and pointe. In the future she hopes to attend college and become a dance teacher.
