On May 10, the Westfield Post Office participated in the "Stamp Out Hunger Drive." The Westfield Food Pantry is blessed by the efforts of this drive. Not all post offices participate in this national drive, and the local postal personnel are applauded for their community service.
Fifty-nine postal bins of non-perishable food items - which is a record amount - was collected by these letter carriers who did double duty by not only delivering the mail, but collecting the donated food and returning it to the Post Office for pick-up with a deadline situation.
In the last six months, the Westfield Food Pantry has seen an increase in emergency situations and usage. In fact, this past Tuesday, 11 families came through the Food Pantry for help within 20 minutes.
Also, hats off to Doug Rothwell, Todd Swanson, Dave Brooker, Keith Rothwell, Marc Brooker, Brittany Jones, Jena Brooker, and Ellen Brooker, for volunteering their time to pick up the food from the post office, unload the bins, and shelve the food. It couldn't have been done without them!
