Westfield water rates could rise

The Westfield Village Board is proposing increasing water rates for all customers in the village and town.

A public hearing has been scheduled for May 19 at 7 p.m. in Eason Hall.

All customers are billed a minimum of 4,000 gallons. The proposed base charge increase is $3 and the usage charge would increase by $1.20 for village residents and $1.80 for town residents per 1,000 gallons used.

Residents in the village of Westfield pay $39 and are proposed to pay $46.80 for the first 4,000 gallons of water. Residents in the town pay $56 and are proposed to pay $66.20.

Non-residential customers pay different rates based on the size of their meter.

Commercial and industrial customers with a 1-inch meter in the village pay $74 and $106 in the town. They would pay $81.80 and $116.20, respectively.

Commercial and industrial customers with 1 1/2-inch meter in the village pay $129 and $193 in the town. they would pay $136.80 and $203.20 respectively.

Commercial and industrial customers with a 2-inch meter pay $319 in the village and $478 in the town. They would pay $326.80 and $488.20 respectively.

Commercial and industrial customers with a 3-inch meter pay $624 in the village and $933 in the town. They would pay $631.80 and $943.20 in the town respectively.

Commercial and industrial customers with a 4-inch meter pay $1,014 in the village and $1,451 in the town. They would pay $1,021.80 in the village and $1,461.20 in the town respectively.
