Brocton hosts BEST Scholarship Awards

BROCTON - Brocton Central School recently hosted the first Business Education Scholarship Test (BEST) competition. Established in August of last year, the BEST scholarship program aims to develop 21st Century skills in northern Chautauqua County students helping to prepare them for life after high school.

The two most qualified students from participating area schools competed for the scholarship. Selected to participate in this year's competition included: Jessica Putcher and Anthony Riforgiato from Brocton, Tara Hunt and Abdullah Khalil from Chautauqua Lake, Connor Aitcheson and Agape Berekah from Dunkirk, and Joseph Conti and Alyssa Vianese from Fredonia. Serving as judges were Diane Hannum from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation; Ellen Luczkowiak from First Niagara Bank, and Travis Heiser from Inner Lakes Federal Credit Union.

Winners of the competition are Connor Aitcheson, Joseph Conti, Anthony Riforigato and Alyssa Vianese. Each will receive a BEST scholarship. Congratulations to the winners and to all students who were chosen to participate.
