Busy month ahead

Ripley Free Library celebrates May with events inside and out

May 8, 2014
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

RIPLEY - The Ripley Free Library will be busy in May both inside and out. The handicap ramp on Goodrich Street will be torn out and replaced with a new ramp and railing, along with the replacement of one of our steps at the front entrance on Main Street. All of this is possible through a generous grant received from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. Please watch for signs directing you into the library.

A program on Soap Making with instructor Jeanette Almekinder is scheduled on Friday at 1 p.m. Learn the age old technique of preparing soap from scratch.

Check out our display case in the lobby where you will find a collection of projectile points found in the local area. This wonderful display, on loan from Mr. George Markham, includes an atlatl and arrow.

The annual yard sale will take place on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 beginning at 9 a.m. If you have any items in good condition that you would like to contribute, please drop them off at the Ripley Library during our open hours of operation. The library is also accepting plants of any kind (house plants, annuals, perennials, and vegetables). Proceeds from the yard sale go towards the Summer Reading Program. Questions? Call 736-3913.

The library will be closed Saturday through Monday, May 24-26 in observance of Memorial Day.
