Arrest made in Westfield arson

May 1, 2014
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

A 41-year-old Clinton Street man is facing third-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief charges in connection with an April 9 fire.

Westfield Police report this morning that Timothy Dulmus was charged at about 3 a.m. Sunday and arraigned before being sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $20,000 cash or $40,000 property bail. The fire had occurred at 41-43 Clinton St. and the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team determined it was intentionally set. Village police worked with investigators on identifying who allegedly started the blaze.

Police also noted they were called to the VFW Post at 34 Pearl St. at 9:55 p.m. where leaves had caught fire underneath the pavilion, which damaged some picnic tables. The investigation is ongoing, but the department wants residents and the public aware that the fire was started by a juvenile who threw a cigarette in the leaves, which started the fire.
