Virginia M. Pietrkiewicz Spencer died Friday evening, April 18, 2014 at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, NY following a long illness.
She was born on February 20, 1920 to the late John and Angelina Pietrkiewicz and was 94 years old at the time of her death.
Virginia was born, raised and educated in Dunkirk, NY. She was a professional cleaner who worked diligently in the Russo Building in Fredonia, NY.
Virginia will be remembered as a woman who had a wonderful smile and always had a kind word to say to everyone she met. She was a deeply religious person following the tenets of the Catholic Faith in both her words and actions. As a member of St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia, NY, she would often be seen walking from One Temple Square to attend Mass.
She is survived by her son, Valentine "Vale" (Joyce) Pietrkiewicz of Clearwater, FL and Dunkirk, NY as well as her brother, Joseph Pietrkiewicz of Buffalo, NY. Virginia is further survived by four granddaughters, one grandson, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Spencer, three brothers, Frank, Anthony and Ramo Pietrkiewicz, and her sister, Helen Long, all of Dunkirk, NY.
Virginia's Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 24 at St. Anthony's Church with the Rev. C.J. Westfield, pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends were invited to attend the Funeral Mass and were invited to call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 E. Main St., Fredonia, NY on Wednesday, April 23 from 3 to 7 p.m.
Interment was at Willowbrook Park Cemetery in Dunkirk, NY.
