Wolcott R. “Cub” Colt

Wolcott R. "Cub" Colt, 85, of Brocton, NY passed away on Tuesday afternoon April 22, 2014 at Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa., after a brief illness.

Cub was born on April 2, 1929 in Portland, NY, the son of the late Ray and Maude (Rees) Colt. He lived his entire life in this area.

He was a retired foreman from Welch Foods of Westfield New York. Cub also served his country in his earlier years in the United States Army.

He belonged to the American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, New York. Besides enjoying his wife and family, he enjoyed his time with his poodle "Muffy."

He is survived by his wife of 12 years Winifred Colt, whom he married on March 15, 2002; two stepsons, Daniel Noftsker of Brocton, NY, Charles Noftsker of Cape Coral, FL; one step daughter, Wendy Woleben of Brocton, NY; one stepdaughter, Betty Palmer of Fredonia, NY; one stepson, Donald Sortre of Florida; nine stepgrandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Roy Colt of Stockton, NY.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Floyd, Alvin, Paul, and Clyde ("Jim") Colt; three sisters, Buelah Markham, Beverly Caraker and Audrey Wright; and also his former wife, Marjorie

Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, NY. The Rev. Larry Morrison officiated. Full Millitary Honors were accorded by the American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton New York. Interment was at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, NY. Memorials in Cub's honor may be made to the Brocton Fire Department, Lake Avenue, Brocton, NY 14716.
