Spring clean-up and property maintenance

As spring arrives and the snow is gone, now is the time to look at property maintenance and a way to get rid of all the eye sores on residents' property. A reminder that Westfield residences can get all the useless trash removed during the Village Wide Trash pick-up which begins on Monday, April 28. The Town Trash Day is Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Transfer Station on Bourne Street.

Electronics recycling collection will be available at the Town Barn, 118 Chestnut Street on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Along with spring time, the construction season has begun and the Building Department of the Village and Town of Westfield is issuing a reminder to contact the office at 326-4401 regarding upcoming projects. Building permits are required for all interior or exterior work, and is not limited to additions, renovation, electrical, plumbing, heating, roofing, porches, decks, ramps, sheds/storage buildings, demolition, etc. Office hours for the Code Enforcement Officer are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (additional times by appointment).

Also, temporary dumpster permits (no fee) are required in the Village and can be obtained at the Village Office where electric and water bills are paid. Applications are on the Village Website at villageofwestfield.org or at the Village Office.

The Bourne Street Yard Waste Site, located at the DPW Facility, 51 Bourne St., is open Monday thru Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May thru October. A $10 permit must be obtained from the Village Office.
