Hazel Marie Tenbuckle Croscutt

Mrs. Hazel Marie Tenbuckle Croscutt, 97, of Willowbrook Manor, Clymer, New York, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at the home of her son in Taylorsville, NC.

Mrs. Croscutt was born April 10, 1917 in Sherman, New York to the late John Henry Tenbuckle and Bertha Weavers Tenbuckle.

Hazel attended elementary school at the one room school house on Sherman Flats. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1934 as Valedictorian of her class., she then graduated from Fredonia Training class as a teacher in 1937. She taught in the Clymer area in one room school houses for three years prior to marrying Donald Croscott, in 1940. Together with her parents they owned and operated a family dairy farm on the Clymer Sherman, Rd. She was a member of Clymer Hill Reformed Church in Clymer, NY, where she was active in the missionary society, Sunday school teacher and very active in other church functions. Hazel was active in the religious release time. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies which she shared with family and friends.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald Henry Croscutt and a infant brother.

Those left to cherish her memory include: a daughter, Alberta Ann Oonk and husband, Harvey, of Clymer, NY; two sons, Dale Henry Croscutt and wife, Sandy, of Taylorsville, NC, Duane Gary Croscutt and wife, Carol, of New Bern, NC; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Friends were received from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm the day of the service at the Clymer Hill Reformed Church.

The funeral service was held at 3:00 pm at the Clymer Hill Reformed Church, Clymer, New York, Wednesday April 23, 2014, with the Revs. Mike and Erin Beckerink officiating, with Rev. Mark Albertino, pastor of the Taylorsville Church of God, Taylorsville, NC assisting, this is where Hazel attended church while in North Carolina. Burial was in Holland Cemetery, Clymer, NY.
