Evan Lynch Ritenburg of Fredonia, NY died suddenly at his home on March 30, 2014. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on Jan. 11, 1978 to Matthew L. Ritenburg Sr. and Mary (Turich) Turnquist. Evan graduated from Fredonia High School in 1996 and from the University of Buffalo in 2000 with a dual degree in biology and physics. He worked as a software architect for Delaware North Companies at Fountain Plaza on Main Street in Buffalo, NY. On Nov. 4, 2007 Evan married Brandi (Saletta) in Las Vegas, NV, and were the proud parents of Kadin and Oliver. He and Brandi were separated at the time of his death.
He was an avid baseball player who pitched and helped the Fredonia High School team go to the State Championships while pitching a one-hit season. He played baseball in his adult years as well, and enjoyed bowling and snowboarding. He also loved botany. Besides his two sons, Evan is survived by his girlfriend, Lynette Ambrose; his father, Matthew L. Ritenburg Sr. and his mother, Mary (Bob) Turnquist. He is further survived by four sisters, Kata (Allen) Ritenburg-Keup of Brookline, NH, Hillary (Christian) Bourdrez of Seattle, WA, Page Botitcello of Stuart, FL, Brie Ritenburg of Fredonia, NY and his brother, Matthew L. Ritenburg Jr. of Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by his grandfather, Bruce Ritenburg Jr.; his nieces,
Kylee Botitcello and Bailey Wegrzynowski and nephews, Brody and Cooper McKinnon, Ben Presto, Barrett Keup, Ryan and Jaxson Wegrzynowski; two stepsisters, Karen (Scott) Winterburn, Brenda (Bart) Halberg; stepbrother, John (Karan) Turnquist; and his many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Evan was predeceased by his nephews, Dawson and Clayton McKinnon; paternal grandmother, Frances (Fitzgerald) Ritenburg; his maternal grandparents, Dr. Edward Martin and Dorothy Turich; and his uncle, Edward M. Turich Jr. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY. Relatives and friends were invited to attend Evan's funeral service. Calling hours were held at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 5:00-9:00 PM. A celebration of Evan's life was held at the Conservation Club at 1 North Mullet St., on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 PM, following the funeral service. Interment wasat the Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredonia, NY at the convenience of the family. Donations to the Fredonia Little League, in Evan's memory, would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
