On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria:
1. Follows Westfield's Rules of Respect for staff and peers
2. Shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects
3. Prepared daily to participate in all classes
4. Serves as a positive role model for peers
5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of February.
The 6th grade recipient is Savannah Lashbrook. In school Sanannah enjoys many of her classes with chorus, band, science and physical education in particular. In her spare time she enjoys riding horses and participates in activities at Centaur Stride. In the future Savannah plans to continue her passion for animals by working as an animal control officer, along with caring for her own pets.
Brock Schuster received this honor for the 7th grade. In school he enjoys his social studies class and learning about events in our country's past, and how those events impact us now and into the future. As a hobby, Brock enjoys sports- participating in baseball, football, soccer and basketball programs. In the future he hopes to get good grades as a student-athlete, and continue playing into college.
At the 8th grade level Alec Stanley received this honor. In school he enjoys his math class because math is easy for him and the teacher explains it well. Outside of the classroom Alec enjoys playing video games and playing with his dog, Baxter. In the future he hopes to attend a good college and become a lawyer.
