Community tennis

Enjoy tennis every Monday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Meet at the courts behind Westfield Academy and Central School to play tennis. The plan is to have enough people to organize several double matches.

Preachers From the Pews

First Presbyterian Church of Westfield is hosting a new Lent series every Friday at 7 p.m. throughout the season of Lent. The series titled, "Preachers From the Pews" features a different speaker from our congregation each week who will lead us in a short informal service. The theme for this Lenten series is love. This week the series will feature Beth Cluchey as she delivers a message about Covenantal Love. Please join us as we continue on our Lenten journey together experiencing God's radical love. Refreshments will follow the service.

White Elephant Auction

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, this enjoyable evening requires everyone to bring a white elephant item to be auctioned off and a dish to pass. Please call the Ripley Free Library for more information and to register as seating is limited. Please call 736-3913.

Flapjack Fundraiser

Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation is holding a Flapjack Fundraiser at the Applebee's on Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk. From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., NCCF volunteers will be serving up short stacks of pancakes for a tall cause. Tickets are $5 each.

The fundraiser supports Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation's Service Learning Program. This program currently offers mini-grants to teachers in local school districts that encourage teaching and learning strategies that integrate meaningful community service for students.

Drumbeat Erie Performs at Ripley Free Library

Drumbeat Erie will perform at 10 a.m. Come and listen to the beat as audience members participate in this fun event.

Lenten Service

The Ripley United Methodist Church is holding a Community Lenten Service at Meeder's Restaurant every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. throughout this Lenten season.We will have a light supper of choice of soups, bread and a beverage with a Lenten Service to follow. Everyone is welcome to join in at this holy time and fellowship with us. Meeder's is located on Main Street in Ripley. The dates are March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2 and 9.

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Write Now Writer's Group

The Town of Portland's Ahira Hall Memorial Library located in Brocton hosts a writer's group. Any and all are invited to join. Host and published author George Clever will be helping the group explore self- and e-publishing as well. We meet every other Wednesday at 6 p.m. Next meeting is April 2. The April board meeting of the Western New York Federation of Women's Clubs will be held at Webb's Restaurant, Mayville on Saturday, April 12 with coffee at 10 am.

Library Schedules Scrabble Tourney

Jason Kinem and Diane Pugh enjoy a game of Scrabble at Prendergast Library, which will hold its second annual Scrabble tournament from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Admission is $15 to benefit the library. Sign up at the Information Desk or in the Fireplace Room the morning of the event. There will be refreshments for sale and prizes for winners.
