The Mayville/Chautauqua Community Chamber of Commerce's President's Day Weekend Winter Festival held in Mayville Feb. 14 to 16, again featured a Polar Bear Swim which benefited the Mayville Food Pantry. We would like to thank all of those who supported the 'Polar Bears" and the Mayville Food Pantry with their generous donations totaling $3,526.00.

The courageous 'Polar Bears' who braved the cold waters of Chautauqua Lake for a good cause were the Family Health Medical Services team of Dr. Robert Berke, Michael Ludwig, Natalie Sturges, Erin Blake, Nicole Smith, Heather Flurie, Jamie Pacanowski, Kathi Paulus, Amanda Shilling, Cheryl Smith, and Chastity Vantassle; the team from Something Beautiful Tattoo & Piercing; as well as Andrew Luckman, Chris White, Ezra Weise, Mark Parsons, Adam Szablewski, Leslie Johnson of Johnson's Village Pharmacy, Carolyn Snider, Randy Henderson, Adam Eckberg, Chris Mattson, Jared Alsbaugh, Joe Counts, Abby Counts, and Jason Toczydlowski.

In 2013, the Mayville Food Pantry helped 220 households with a total of 510 family members served. During the year, there were 1590 'visits' to the Food Pantry, meaning 3790 people were served and a total of 33,790 meals were provided to those in need. The Food Pantry relies primarily on grant funds and donations from local businesses and organizations but also individual and church donations, as well as local fund raisers. The funds were presented to Bonnie Smith, Coordinator of the Mayville Food Pantry located at St. Paul's Outreach Center, Mayville, by Ken Shearer, President of the Mayville/Chautauqua Community Chamber of Commerce.
