Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

On March 3, 2014, 45 members met for a buffet lunch at the Mayville VFW dining hall. President, Joyce Ayers welcomed everyone and Diane Goodrich gave the blessing. Mary Carlson called the table numbers. After the meal Joyce led the salute to the flag and asked for committee reports.

The secretary minutes were read with three thank you notes for the gifts in memory of departed members. Treasurer's report was accepted as given.

Birthdays for March are Barbara Thompson, Shiela Hammond, Marcia Limburg, Gladys Fredell, Arleen Kurtz, Juanita Holthouse, Charles Tanner, Rose Stansbury, Bill Tornstrom, Charles Krause, Judy Smith, and Donna Cummings. Mary Carlson is in need of Easter cards.

Bill Tornstrom announced that the guest speakers at the next meeting (March 20) will be Doug Justham and Gretchen Lindell from the Heritage Village Retirement campus in Cherry Creek, New York.

The kitchen committee was thanked again for their work. Janet Loomis said the Casino Trip lacked enough people signed up for a bus to go April 8. Money will be refunded for those who signed up.

The seniors were told the Chautauqua Lake school musical, Wizard of Oz, was free for seniors on Thursday evening, March 7 at 7 p.m.

Music by Davis and Eng Band was enjoyed by all. "Summer Time," My Window Faces the South," "Flip, Flop, & Fly," and "Bojangles" were some of the songs played.
