Mary H. (Naughton) Raab, age 99, of Jamestown, formerly of Westfield and Inwood, Long Island, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at The Lutheran Home of Jamestown, NY.
Mary was born on July 2, 1914 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget Mary (Horan) Naughton. Raised in Inwood, LI, Mary was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church and was very active in Church activities, especially the Altar and Rosary Society. She had been employed as an Aid / Monitor for School #1 in Lawrence, LI for many years and had been a Girl Scout leader for several years as well. She enjoyed embroidering. However, Mary enjoyed raising her family and being a Mom.
She is survived by her two sons: John "Jack" (Eileen) J. Raab of Westfield, NY, and Gerard "Jerry" (Kathy) Raab of Fluvanna, NY. Mary was the proud grandmother of Stephen and Timothy Raab.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard Joseph Raab, whom she married on September 3, 1949 in Inwood, LI, and who died on October 29, 1981, by her Infant daughter Mary Ellen and by her sister, Katherine Naughton Williams and by her two brothers, John and William Naughton.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at The Meserole Funeral Home, 143 Lord Ave., Inwood, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:15 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Our Lady Of Good Counsel RC Church, 68 Wanser Ave., Inwood, NY 11096-2388. Burial will be in St. Mary Star Of The Sea Cemetery.
