MAYVILLE - Chautauqua Lake's defense dominated as the No. 4 Lady Thunderbirds (18-1) cruised to a 66-36 win over No. 5 Franklinville (13-6) Thursday in Section 6 Class C-2 girls high school basketball quarterfinal action.
Paced by Jenna Einink's 27 points and 16 rebounds, Chautauqua Lake outscored the Lady Panthers 16-8 after one quarter and held a commanding 32-11 lead by intermission.
The onslaught continued in the second half as the Lady Thunderbirds outscored the visitors, 22-12 in the third quarter before coasting in the final eight minutes to walk away with the victory.

Also for the winners, Ashley Moulton netted 11 points and had a double-double with 11 boards. Tara Hunt added five assists and Courtney Hughes had seven steals.
For Franklinville, Ally Haskell dropped in 17 points and had six rebounds, and Vanessa Pfeiffer had 12 points.
Chautauqua Lake will play the winner of the Olmstead-Global Concepts game in the semifinals on Tuesday at Jamestown High School.
