Saturday, March 1

American Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive at the Eason Hall Auditorium, 23 Elm Street in Westfield from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, March 3

Community tennis

Enjoy tennis every Monday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Meet at the courts behind Westfield Academy and Central School to play tennis. The plan is to have enough people to organize several double matches.

Pancake Race and Dinner

Shrove Tuesday "Messy Church Pancake Race & Dinner" starts at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Westfield. Ticket prices are free for children under 4, $3 for children 4-12 years of age, $4 for adults and children 13 and older, and $15 for a family.

Mayville T.O.P.S. meeting

Mayville T.O.P.S. NY 1337 meets every Tuesday at the Mayville United Methodist Church on South Erie St. Weigh in starts at 5 p.m., with program starting at 5:30 p.m. Join in to Take Off Pounds Sensibly with a great support group, fun contests and awards. Any questions, call 753-3419 or 386-6075.

Westfield T.O.P.S. meeting

Take Off Pounds Sensibly meet every Wednesday in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main St., Westfield. Weigh in starts at 6 p.m., followed by a program. For more information, call Ann Cochran at 326-2248 or Shirley Kolpien at 326-3576.

Kids' Club 2014

Children in grades K thru 5 are invited to come and meet wise professor Theo and his mischievous friends, Luther and Belfry, who will teach important lessons about the Foundations of Faith. Children will enjoy: Bible stories, crafts, recreation, refreshments, singing, and more! This event is free to the public and will be held at the First Baptist Church in Westfield, located at 19 Union Street. Please call 326-3910 with any questions.

First Presbyterian Church Celtic Ash Wednesday Service

A Celtic Ash Wednesday service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield on Wednesday, March 5. A communion service will be held at 7 p.m. The service will feature readings from the ancient book of Celtic prayer - the Carmina Gadelica - as well as a recitation of the Lord's Prayer in Gaelic. The music will include special music by bagpiper Wesley Bossman, guest flautist Katic Van Zant, the Westfield Presbyterian Choir, and music by internationally known composer Lewis Kocher/Michael Crowtower. Ash Wednesday

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Westfield will begin ashes at 8 a.m. followed by an Ash Wednesday Church Service at 7 p.m.

Parkinson's support group at Westfield Memorial Hospital

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Beginner's Quilting Class at the Ripley Free Library

Join the Beginner's Quilting Class at the Ripley Free Library. The class meets every Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. If you've always wanted to learn how to quilt but thought it was too complicated, now is your chance to mark it off your bucket list. For more information call 736-3913.

Turkey dinner

The Westfield-Ripley Kiwanis will be hosting a turkey dinner with all the fixings on Thursday, March 6 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Dominic's RC Church in Westfield. The price is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-11. Children under 4 are free. Proceeds to support Autism research. Please help this worthy cause.

Community breakfast

The Ripley United Methodist Church is holding an 'all-you-can-eat' Community Breakfast on Saturday,

March 8 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. The breakfast features eggs made to order (including a variety of omelets) bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, toast, O.J. and coffee. The church is located at 84 West Main, Ripley and the cost per person is $6 for all you can eat. This breakfast will benefit the Outreach Ministries.

Soup Dinner

The First Presbyterian Church in Westfield will be hosting a soup dinner to benefit Westfield Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 12 from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $20 for a family. Please call 326-3504 for more information.

Thursday, March 13

Spring senior citizen's tour

Travel with us for a spring outing to the Maple Tree Inn near Short Tract, NY for pancakes and maple syrup (sugar free available), the Cuba Cheese house and the Cutco Knife Visitors Center in Olean, NY. We will be leaving at 9 a.m. from the Eason Hall and returning at approx. 5 p.m. Please telephone the Westfield Recreation Dept. at 326-4243 for more information or to make your reservations.

Centaur Stride Annual Walk-a-thon Fundraiser

Registration is appreciated for this event held at Chautauqua Mall. Walk from 2-3 p.m. to benefit programs at Centaur Stride Therapeutic Horseback Riding Facility in Westfield. Towel BINGO

Time once again to play St. Patty's Day Towel BINGO! The event takes place Sunday, March 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at John W. Dill American Legion Post 434 Route 20 in Brocton. There will be prizes, Chinese Auction, 50-50 and refreshments. A small admission fee will be charged. Towel BINGO is sponsored by Preceptor Beta Epsilon Sorority.
