Jesse J. Carlisle

DEWITTVILLE - Jesse J. Carlisle, 85, of Centralia-Hartfield Road, Dewittville, formerly of Muskegon, MI., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (February 4, 2014) at the home of his daughter.

He was born July 18, 1928 in Muskegon, the son of the late Jesse J. and Gertrude Schuitema Carlisle Sr.

He was a member of the Evanston Avenue Baptist Church in Muskegon, and attended Fellowship at the Cross in Falconer, NY.

Jesse enjoyed reading, being a handyman and doing wood working. He loved his family and loved being a grandfather, he also loved his church and being involved with his churches.

He is survived by his four children, Richard (Cheryl) Carlisle of Bailey, MI, Roger (Barb) Carlisle of Muskegon, MI, Daniel (Jane) Carlisle of Roland, Iowa, and Ruth (Andrew) Frudd of Dewittville, NY; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Carlisle of Marion, Ind., and Bernie Carlisle of Sun City, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Putney Carlisle, whom he married March 15, 1967 in Muskegon and who died July 23, 2007; one daughter, Marjorie Carlisle; one sister; and seven brothers.

The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 8, 2014) in the Evanston Avenue Baptist Church in Muskegon, MI. Andy Frudd officiated. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon.

The Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of local arrangements.
