Maple Grove, Westfield compete in high school bowl competition

JAMESTOWN - Maple Grove Central School defeated Youngsville High School 80-18 in a recent WJTN High School Bowl match at Jamestown Community College.

In another match, Westfield Academy & Central School defeated Tidioute Community Charter School 83-15.

Player of the Match honors went to Elliott Clark, Abigail Sirwatka and Christina Walter of Maple Grove.

The Maple Grove team, coached by Jason VandeVelde, also included Keith Carolus, Nick Swanson and Andre Delcalzo.

Members of the Youngsville team included Tristan Anderson, Mackenzie Rugar, Jorie Clark, Hannah Camp, Kailey Giese, Samantha Tome and Tobi Robihault. The team is coached by Tim McDowell.

The Westfield team, coached by Jeffrey Payne, included Alexander Michels, Kaitlyn Meegan, Joshua McCord, Kylan Connolly, Jason Babcock, Cassia Connolly, Christopher Cockram, Peter Manzella, Alaina Cockram, Alex Davidson, Jason Babcock and Ashlee Poletto.

Members of the Tidioute team included Desiree McChesney, Lexi Van Ord, Stephanie Burris, Brian Bonner, Brittany Hulse, and Amber Borland. The team is coached by Michael Patterson.

High School Bowl, now in its 53rd year, is produced by Media One Group in cooperation with JCC and sponsors including the JCC Alumni Association, Honest John's Pizza and Wings, Jamestown Mattress, Lind Funeral Home, Pepsi, SKF Aeroengine North America, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and Delta Kappa Gamma, the International Honor Society of Women Educators.

High School Bowl airs on Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on radio station WJTN and at 8 a.m. on Sundays on radio station WWSE.

JAMESTOWN - Gowanda Central School defeated Fredonia Central School 77-64 and Westfield Academy & Central School 79-76 in recent WJTN High School Bowl matches at Jamestown Community College.

Player of the Match honors went to Jeremy Pickering and Trent Martin of Gowanda.

Gowanda team members also included Nicholas Marroco, Jenna Greiner, Jessica Sowa and Meghan Lulas. The team is coached by Frank Fonti.

The Fredonia team, coached by Kerry Seastrum, included Ryan Meredith, Randall Butts, Andrew Mignoli and Kale Mendez-deMello.
