Clymer 54, Chautauqua Lake 41
CLYMER - Tough defense was the difference Thursday as the Clymer Pirates (6-5, 2-4) held the Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds (4-7, 2-3) to just two points in the second quarter en route to a 54-41 victory in a CCAA West II boys basketball matchup.
Jake Wiggers led the Pirates with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Mitch Einink also had a solid all-around performance for Clymer with 12 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
"We stepped up and played a real nice second quarter," Clymer coach Dan White said. "It was pretty close overall. Wiggers scored 14 of his 17 in the second quarter. He was on fire and that gave us a boost on defense. We got out on our assignments, deflected passes that led to steals and had our best quarter of the season."
Ian Clute led the Thunderbirds with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
