Chautauqua Lake 58, Brocton 50
BROCTON - Carter Davidson had a game-high 17 points Wednesday night as Chautauqua Lake (4-6, 2-2) held on for a 58-50 win over CCAA West II foe Brocton (0-9, 0-6).
"I thought we lost (the game) from the arc," Brocton head coach Jeff Franze said. "(Wednesday) they scored 18 points and we scored six. We knew we had to stop Davidson and he got some pretty good looks (Wednesday)."
Davidson scored nine of his 17 points from behind the arc while Ryan Miller added 12 points and AJ Hulton nine points. Ian Clute chipped in 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
The Thunderbirds jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, before the Bulldogs got back into the game by outscoring the visitors, 13-7, to make the score 24-23, in favor of Chautauqua Lake, as the teams went to the break.
The Thunderbirds broke the game open in the third quarter, as they outscored the Bulldogs, 22-13, to balloon their lead to 46-36. Brocton put up 14 points to Chautauqua Lake's 12 in the fourth quarter for the 58-50 final.
"The first and third quarters continue to kill us," Franze noted.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Aaron Riforgiato, who finished with 15 points. Also for Brocton, Macalum Buchanan had 13 points while Anthony Riforgiato had eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.
