Over the Backyard Fence in Sherman

January 23, 2014
Elaine Cole , Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

As of Jan. 18, the Sherman Wildcats varsity boys basketball team has not had one league loss. We congratulate them once again and also their coaches who spend a lot of time working with them. It's nice to see so many spectators attending the games and cheering them all on too.

Sherman school has had a couple of snow days this year, as have other nearby schools. I'm sure most of the kids have enjoyed that. However, I have only seen one snowman thus far this year in our local area and it melted after a day or two. I think it's hard to make one if the snow isn't just the right temperature.

Although the Holiday season is over, it's still nice to see that the wooden snowmen are still on Main Street and also the Christmas lights are on the tree. I don't know if you have noticed that we also now have lights in front of the business section. It makes that area especially attractive as one enters the small village.
