James Hitchcock, 80, formerly of Ellington died Monday (January 20, 2014) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
A lifelong area resident he was born August 27, 1933 in Jamestown, the son of the late Daniel and Florence Hitchcock Walker.
James attended Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Prior to retirement he was employed by Union National for 30 years retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed listening to music and playing the guitar. He was a former member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his sister Margery Doty of Falconer; ten nieces and nephews: Diane Doty, Barbara Doty, Harold Doty Jr., Donna Elderkin, Harold Walker Jr., Wendy Walker, Lori Lauria, Rick Walker, Daniel Walker, Judy McGaughey and several great nieces and great nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Harold Walker.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Don Reese of Ivory Baptist Church officiated. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
Friends were received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday in the funeral home.
