NORTH HARMONY - Joy and cheer was brought to the North Harmony Senior Citizens Dec. 17 gathering. The center was beautifully decorated in Christmas cheer and the party table was filled with delicious Christmas cookies, cake, pastries, dips and bread items for the 45 kings and queens present. Steve and Loretta Saulsgiver, Case Foster and Anita and Earl Ferry were the dinner hosts.
Participating in the usual greetings, prayer and pledge to the flag, President Ferry recognized the birthday celebrants, Case Foster and Carol White with a beautiful cake provided by Carol Bergman White.
The highlight of the evening was a presentation given by Luella Krieger who travelled from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She is a drama portrayer of "Women of the Bible." Ms. Krieger portrayed "Millie", the innkeeper's wife at Bethlehem. She simulated a first person narration of the innkeeper's wife who participated in the events of the birth of Christ until his Crucifixion on the Cross and Resurrection. Millie was mystified by the gentle eyes of the Christ child and her awareness of them throughout His life. She met Mary, Christ's mother at his birth, crucifixion, and resurrection. Her conclusion led to the fact that Christ had a purpose to redeem mankind from the sin of Adam and Eve and prepare man for his happiness with God in heaven.
After a standing ovation, President Ferry thanked Ms. Krieger for her beautiful presentation. He then called the business portion of the meeting to order. Minutes were read and approved and reports were given by the following committees: Membership, Memorials, Entertainment, Senior Council, Trips, Sunshine, and Arts and Crafts.
Sally Carlson and Everett King, present office holders, were nominated for two Trustee positions that had to be filled. Being no nominations from the floor, a voice vote was taken; their appointments were approved by the membership. The hosts for the January meeting will be Dorothy and Charlie Krause and Joanna and Lincoln Fisher. Laura Palmer will provide the birthday cake.
