Verdun E. "Sandy" Sandell, 95, of Falconer passed away Monday (January 6, 2014) in his home.
He was born November 26, 1918 in Scandia, PA the son of the late Albert and Bessie Irwin Sandell.
Verdun was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army serving in the South Pacific. He had been employed by Chautauqua Hardware retiring in 1984.

He was a lifetime member of the John W. Tiffany Post 53, VFW and a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving are two stepsons: Frank L. (Jane) Pekarski of Falconer, Brant (Drucilla) Pekarski of Coudersport, PA; seven step grandchildren: Bruce Pekarski, Michelle Pekarski, Lucas Pekarski, Brian Scott Pekarski, Jo-Rene Housler, Randy Scott Pekarski, Jodi Lee Vossler; four great grandchildren Amber Pekarski, Jacob, Joshua and Jordan Timmerman and a great great grandchild Addyson Howell.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude M. Sandell whom he married August 12, 1986, who died June 9, 2008; two sisters: Orpha C. Larson, Louise Golczynski and a brother Leverne Sandell.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday in the funeral home.
