Family and friends will be holding a benefit for Don Briggs Jr. on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion on South Erie Street in Mayville.
In September, Don was diagnosed with Uveal Malignant Melanoma of the right eye. His eye was removed and he has since been fitted with a prosthetic eye. He had additional testing that found the melanoma had spread to his liver. He has finished radiation treatments for now and has started chemotherapy treatments. These involve frequent trips to Cleveland Clinic.
Don is employed by Industrial Welding & Fabricating. Although they have worked with him through this, Don has used up all of his sick and vacation days. He now has to take unpaid days off work. The benefit will help cover the medical bills, transportation to Cleveland Clinic and day-to-day living expenses.

The benefit will consist of a spaghetti dinner, Chinese auction, 50/50 Raffle and door prizes. A tool box donated by Randolph Auto Supply will be auctioned separately.
Tickets for the Saturday benefit are $6 for children 12 and under, and $10 for adults.
